You have arrived from Entertainment Media Lab. It is the same lab — renamed Affective Design Lab in 2026. See the history →
6 research lines, with 8 funded projects, 2 tools we run in public, and the work we have shown. Every paper is listed on Publications.
Projection mapping on a wireframe structure
A line runs for years and yields several papers.
How people receive video and imagery made with generative AI. The object is not the tool but the response to what it produces.
Changing lighting and spatial layout in virtual environments and measuring how much fear shifts — beginning with survey measures and now going down to EEG.
Asking whether UI conventions built for screens still hold in three dimensions. The shared question is how to deliver information without breaking presence.
People read personality off a virtual agent's face and body. We look at which forms produce which impressions, and whether that reading differs across cultures.
How to measure sensations and emotions that resist description, and how to give them form — as in turning a vocabulary of pain into 3D glyphs.
What survives and what is lost when an exhibition moves into virtual space — circulation, visual guidance, and affective responses such as awe.
The affects the lab has worked on, placed on the coordinates it works in.
Each point sits where the circumplex ordinarily puts the affect that line studies. These are not measured results.
Work that no single point can hold. Giving it a coordinate would be inventing a claim, so it stays off the plane.
Built here and left open for anyone to use.
Web tools for the points where designing stops — screen resolution against viewport and pixel ratio, contrast checked at WCAG AA and AAA, and Korean dummy text whose particles attach the way real sentences do. No sign-up, and every calculation stays in the browser.
dconnect.kr/toolsSpeech turned into subtitles in another language as it is spoken. Korean, Chinese, English, Japanese, Vietnamese and Spanish are detected automatically, and it runs three ways — captions for a talk (Solo), a conversation across a table (Conversation), and a broadcast each listener receives in their own language.
translate.dconnect.krWork exhibited at the KSDS Spring International Invited Exhibition.
Directed a virtual exhibition that drew more than 8,800 visitors.
A VR game controlled by the visitor's own brainwaves.
Twelve web projects from the spring 2026 seminar — a pottery simulator worked by hand gestures, a pixel-font tool that runs in the browser, a music player rebuilt for four decades — each one made and deployed.
Video and interactive work produced in a graduate seminar.
Entertainment Media 3, spring 2026. Work by three of its students, running right here.
A pixel-font design tool that runs in the browser. Set the pixel shape and the grid, draw each glyph, check it in Preview, and export it as SVG, PNG, or a font file. It covers 94 Latin characters and 51 Hangul jamo.

An interactive fortune-telling service told as a hummingbird's journey to find a four-leaf clover and deliver luck, with saju, a lucky draw, and palm reading.
Saju asks for your date of birth; what you enter is handled by the student's site.
